Facing Mortality Through an Eternal Perspective

Guest speakers Rodney and Deirdre Gipson share how an eternal perspective shapes how they face terminal diagnosis.

Deirdre and Rodney Gibson met in New York City, where they each spent many of their formative adult years. They attended different branches of what is now called Church of the City New York, and were married by founding pastor Jon Tyson. Rodney hails from Seattle and Dallas, and Deirdre grew up in rural Ohio. Rodney scales startups, primarily in digital health, and Deirdre works in the field of values- and faith-driven investing. They have three children, Penn (5), Eden (3), and Trinity (1), and “little Thad” who would have been between Penn and Eden but is now with Jesus. Two and a half years ago, Rodney received his second lifetime cancer diagnosis: he battled Hodgkin's lymphoma as a middle-schooler, and now battles stage 4 metastatic lung cancer.
